About U

UoN Services Limited (UoNS or “the U”) is the organisation that provides and manages a range of services and facilities on the Callaghan campus.  These include the bars and a range of food outlets, personal services (like Hunter Area Pathology Service and the dental surgery), retail outlets like the Ushops, the Co-op Bookshop and STA Travel, as well as the function and meeting spaces.

The U puts on all the fun events on Callaghan - like the trivia and poker comps, free lunchtime gigs as well as student party nights and gigs at the Bar on the Hill.

The U also puts on the major Newcastle Uni events, like O’Ball, Autonomy Day, Toga Party, Halloween, Beach Party and the Cultural Awakenings Festival.

UoN Services also looks after Watt Space, the University of Newcastle Student Art Gallery.  There is a new exhibition opening at Watt Space every three weeks so call in - everyone is welcome.

UoN Services Limited is a public company limited by guarantee, a controlled entity of the University of Newcastle, and is governed by a Board of Directors which includes student representatives, University appointees and independent directors with expertise from various business sectors.
